Feeling like a Bad Mom: Here’s how to Change that {Video}

Question: What’s something that adds a lot of value and happiness to your life, but also has the ability to make you feel really bad about yourself?

Answer: Social media. feeling like a bad mom danielle ford

For our new video series, “Figure It Out Friday”, I asked all of you to send me some questions and issues that you’re dealing with at the moment.

So many questions and topics came in and I’ll be getting to them all, one at a time.

I chose this question because I think it’s something that we’ve all dealt with, living in an internet based world where you can see on your laptop, iPad or smartphone EVERY SINGLE THING OTHER PEOPLE ARE DOING.

Real Life Scenario:

It’s Sunday morning and you’re freaking tired from the week. You and the kids slept in, so now you’re wiping crusties out of your eyes and making “breakfast” which is really some burnt scrambled eggs and jelly toast. While your eggs are burning.. I mean cooking.. you check Facebook to see what’s going on in your little online world.

And then there SHE is.. Supermom.

Supermom has already been up for 3 hours. You know she’s finished her daily 5 mile run because she posted 18 pictures of the sun rise and her running shoes.

She’s just updated that “Church was SOOO AWESOME!” and now her and her perfect husband and her immaculately dressed 5 children under 5 are off to the farmers market to get organic produce for this week’s meal plan.

You finish cooking breakfast and scrape off the burnt part off the eggs before giving them to the kids. You look at yourself in the mirror and wonder how long it’s been since you brushed your hair.. and the last time you did brush it.. did you, in fact, brush it with an egg beater?

Supermom would never have egg-beater-brushed hair.

Watch the video below to hear the question that Rachel sent in to me, asking about what to do when you feel like a bad mom after seeing all these Supermoms online.

Disclaimer: You may-or may not- see what I look like first thing in the morning. Hint: It’s not pretty.

Now it’s time fot you to fess up.. Have you ever felt the way Rachel did? How did you handle it? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks so much for reading, watching and sharing with other moms you know that can relate.
