Pregnant at 13, staying in school and making it happen for her baby boy-

Today’s Spotlighted Young Mom, Rebecca Denise Ibarra, shares her inspiring journey with us…

Tell us about yourself and your family:

My family started for me at the age of 13, yes I was pregnant, at 13. I honestly didn’t have any idea about pregnancy, it was my first time taking a pregnancy test. I was only doing it too be dumb around my girls, but I took this test and it had 2 lines but one was darker than the other. Soon after that I researched day and night, about everything, literally everything. I dropped out of school in the 8th grade, but before I was pregnant I was already messing up in school, ditching was my problem. I was always a straight A student elementary through 7th grade, but I just fell. School wasn’t as important to me. But when I learned I was pregnant I had to change, I had too be an adult. Through out it all was a long time but I stand today strong, not the best relationship with my babydaddy but he’s still around but I have a boyfriend, but not anyone truely knows the amount of pain and depression I went through with that. It all changed me, I see everything differently, I’m in my future at times it’s so crazy but it keeps me motivated for myself and my family 🙂

teen mother and son pictureWhat were your biggest concerns when you first found out you were pregnant? How did you handle it?

I was mainly concerned about the whole baby growing inside of me part, I was so shocked. I didn’t want to lose my body, but then I soon got over it all and just worried of my baby boy. He was all I had, even when I was sad at those times he always made me happy. Time flew, my son grew, as did I. I feel like a different type of person sometimes I’m still working on my body but I like the process! To find it hot!! Lol

What kinds of things do you do to treat yourself, for fun and to stay relaxed?

Honestly, I like to lay down and imagine myself in a beach house, my backyard, I play Pandora relaxation station! Love the music!! So much!!

What are your favorite things about being a mom?

It has too be those deep eye starring contests we have before we give eachother a kissy lol, He’s so sweet to me, he loves hugging me! He loves to tickle me! I have loads of videos and pictures of us together, some even with him recording us haha. I just love hearing him call me by mama or mommy, or even mom justs makes my heart smile!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If you didn’t have any obstacles, what dream would you pursue?cute baby boy in hat

I still have 3 years to finish school, because I didn’t attend high-school I have to do 9th grade again because when I was in 8th I didn’t finish. I’m suppose to be in 10 the grade now. But Im gonna try out going for psychiatrist! I just love the feeling of appreciation and love! Inspiring means most to me! I will do whatever to make someone a smile :))

What advice would you give to other young girls who just found out they’re pregnant or recently became a mom?

Be ready for a life changing journey, it’s beautiful, but can get ugly. Honestly there are the deepest drops I myself have been in. But it’s all better because I’ve learned from all of it, and became a woman. Your baby will always be your first priority! Always. But those who need anyone too talk too or need advice I’m here too help!! :*
