Stay at Home Mom Activities! 10 Ways to make INCREDIBLE memories Every Day

I am so glad I decided to be a stay at home mom.

I get to enjoy waking and sending my kids off to school with their homework completed, lunch made and school attire wonderfully chosen.

Then I love and take care of my youngest during the day.

Some of my fondest memories are of being home with my kids and helping them grow by my influence each day. A great responsibility not to be taken lightly, but very much adored.

Each day we get to decide how to mold these little minds.

In the evening, we get to cuddle and eat dinner, study and prepare for the next day. Nights are great because I am here to tuck them into bed and read the occasional story.

It sounds like a lot, and it is, but we as moms often sit back and think, “All that fuss and I still really enjoy it.”

The life of a stay at home mom can be really great if you incorporate the right attitude of fun into it.

There are lots of precious moments that make up the day, so lets talk about what you can do to enjoy them.

I love to make up homework activities that include reading, writing, and worksheets. Coloring and crafts are the usual creative choice. We also love to play games that encourage learning.

We love to change it up everyday. Gardening and science projects are some recent ideas that we have had. You can really have a great day if you have a schedule.

Write down meal times and finish important chores in a timely manner. Move on to activities every few hours, set times and stick to them.

Here are some of my stay at home mom activities for you to try out

1. Be happy, dance and sing! Often times when you are in a good mood with your children, you come up with the best songs and dances! My daughters and I come up with unique dance routines to songs we made up or we listen to children’s songs.

2. Reading is definitely necessary and we even make up our own stories! Go by your local library for fun. The more you read to kids, the more creative they will be. Quality time and intelligence comes from story books.

3. Play in the dirt!! Go outside and explore the outdoors.  We have a garden that encourages our children to grow healthy foods. A lot of fun can be found just in sitting outside in the grass, picking flowers, and playing with bugs.  I Have  an outdoor picnic or ride bicycles. Pitch a tent and stay awhile, its going to be fun!  Soak up the sun, just remember to wear sunscreen!

4. Daily exercise is so important to your family’s health! Why not make it an essential part  of your daily SAHM routine?! You will be teaching your children habits that will last a lifetime and you will look good too! Have them create their own workout plan. Its amazing what kids think is fun and it uses their energy wisely!

5. Have your children take part in cooking! They will absolutely love it and you will get some unquestionable creative help! This is a great way to start planning meals for your family as well!

6. Art projects and crafts are so much fun for your kids and it keeps your mind creative and sharp. Modeling clay, coloring, painting, paper folding,  and jewelry making are just some ideas. My family loves to make seasonal crafts. We look up ideas and then put our own spin on it.

7. Take a trip to your local museum or park. Sometimes an outing can be just what you and the kids need so that your attitudes don’t become stifled and rough around the edges. You can learn so much about being in public, social situations and the attractions available to be viewed.

8. Movie night or game night can be so important because of  the family interaction. Instead of watching tv all day, tell the kids you are saving a special movie for the big event! Have snacks and personalized to your family’s specifications, let everyone have a say in the preparations.

9. Children just love to pretend, join in on the fun in any way you can. Play dolls, super heroes, or whatever your child is interested in. I know its by far the thing i struggle with the most, but you will be building lifetime memories with your kids!

10. 1 word: Sports. I could go on and on about the benefits of outdoor play, but I will just let you experience them when you play sports like soccer and basketball. Its so important to get your exercise so why not make it exciting by playing a friendly outdoor game? Invite friends to join you, go to the local park or fitness center and grow your athletic side. Encourage your children to play sports because they will learn about teams, sportsmanship and may discover talent and mature their personality!

The best foods to eat while pregnant

Dear new mom, I know that you want to give your baby and yourself the best nutrients that you can, right?

It’s a good thing to start eating a variety of nutrient rich foods now because your child will be more willing to eat certain things that you consumed while they were in the womb.

You will also need the best of foods to have energy and strength to take care of your newborn.  Many mothers (including myself) are interested, but don’t really come up with a meal plan for pregnancy.

I will help you to discover the best foods to eat while pregnant.

I know it’s hard not to eat everything in sight while pregnant! You don’t want to do that- but you can afford some extra calories.

Pregnancy takes a lot out of you to give to the baby, so you should consume about 300 more calories per day than you did before you became pregnant.

Here is an example of a day of meals and snacks:

Breakfast: an orange, 2 scrambled eggs with ¼ bell pepper and ¼ cup of mushrooms, wheat toast and a glass of low fat milk

Snack: ½ cup grapes and ¼ cup nuts or seeds

Lunch: strawberry, spinach salad! (This looks so good, I may go on a “I’m not pregnant but this is a great diet” meal plan!)

Dinner: Vegetable soup is great way to get full of what you and baby need!

Dinners should consist of lots of vegetables. You could try pre-washed veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and snap peas for a stir-fry.

Tip: Sneak in vegetables like grated carrots or diced squash into your tomato sauce!

Snack: have a sweet tooth? Try a fruit salad with greek yogurt for part of your calcium requirement.

Some easy and healthy snack choices are:

Fruits like: apples, oranges, bananas, cantaloupe, really any favorite are perfect for a snack. Raisins have fiber, iron and potassium. The recommended amount of fruits is 2 whole servings.

Veggies like: spinach, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other dark leafy greens.

Tip: Try using some veggies like grated carrots in a sandwich, or avocado and tomato. 3 or more servings a day is ideal.

Whole grains and nuts are a perfect fast food for soon to be moms, as well as iron-fortified cereals. Its recommended that you have 6-8 servings a day.

Calcium is important as well and it is recommended that you have 3-4 glasses of milk a day and/or dairy products.

Meat and beans are important for your baby to get enough iron and protein. It is recommended that you have 5 ½  to 6 ½ ounces a day.

As always, I believe that packaged foods are a no-go and what you drink is important as well.

Don’t consume too much caffeine and just say no to soda all together. Your drink of choice should be water.

When you are in your third trimester, snacks can really save the day. Try packing small things to take with you, because you won’t have much room for big meals.

“Ziplock bags with walnuts, sunflower seeds, raisins, and dried apricots — a powerful combo of iron-rich foods that’ll nourish baby with a much-needed third trimester nutrient).” Dried fruit is perfect for when you are out and about.

Eating nutrient filled meals and snacks during pregnancy can keep you and your baby be healthy and potentially get you back to feeling yourself faster after delivery.

Proper diet is a great way to avoid things like low birth weight, anemia and other pregnancy issues. Eating small, frequent meals throughout the day will help with heartburn and nausea.

Lacricia Sanders explains with her story below:

Hi I’m Lacricia, the spunky red head that lives in a tiny town with all the people I grew up with. I had dreams of being a famous singer or Hollywood star when I was younger, but that all changed the day I met my prince charming, Jason. He swept me off my feet and took me off the dating market 12 years ago when I was just 15 and he was 19. Seems crazy to some that we got married so young, but we wanted to bring up our daughter in a stable home filled with love. Now, 31 years old he works very hard to take care of his 4 girls, his lovely wife who keeps the household running well and his three beautiful daughters Jaylynn 11, Leah 6, and Lilyanna 3.

I am now 27 and very much still in Love with my husband and our life is great. I believe that God has supplied us with every need and even a little room to spoil. I always say I am “spoiled” but it’s not because I don’t do any work or we have lots of extra money to spend. I say that because I have a wonderful husband that does all he can to pay the mortgage and utilities and still have some strength left to talk to me and enjoy our family. I have been fighting the whole stay at home mom thing for awhile now because I feel I dont get the outside social interaction or career stimulation I need, but I am so thankful that I have been at home enjoying every important moment with my kids while they grow. I am always researching nutrition and exercise so I can help my clients. I love my job and now my goal is to become a fitness trainer and my ultimate dream is to own a gym with aerobic exercise, yoga, weight training, kick boxing and martial arts. I am also working very hard to be a good mother and find new ways to feed and care for my children. I want to make sure I do creative things with the whole family. Remember that no one and nothing is perfect, so make the best of each day!

What were your biggest concerns when you first found out you were pregnant? How did you handle it?

My biggest concern when I first found out I was pregnant would have to be how my life would turn out. I was determined to finish school and go to college, which I did! My oldest daughter was three when I started college and work. I feel i missed out a little on her, but I am glad I can say I did do it. I was afraid we wouldn’t have what we needed, but I prayed and it all worked out!

What kinds of things do you do to treat yourself, for fun and to stay relaxed?

I Love to exercise! I do a lot of running and home exercises. I love to read and I am a decent singer! I intend on going back to school for music.


What are your favorite things about being a mom?lacricia sanders young family

When I feel that I haven’t done anything worth mentioning, my children remind me how great of a job I do with them. We have a positive home and I can see how much influence I have in their lives and it reminds me to do the best I can to keep smiling!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? If you didn’t have any obstacles, what dream would you pursue?

I see myself in five years owning my own business place where people can come to workout and buy supplements. I also want to go back to school for music. I will be making enough money that I can volunteer and give back to the community, afford fun activities with my daughters, take some cool classes myself, and give my husband a fun break from working so hard.

What advice would you give to other young girls who just found out they’re pregnant or recently became a mom?

I would like to tell other moms to not be so rigid when it comes to raising their kids. Have fun, enjoy each moment, and don’t forget to discipline! You don’t have to do anything like other people do, parent in your own way. Don’t get so mad at people, but stand your ground when it comes to advice, just say, “Thanks” and do it your way. Listen to your heart, that’s where a true loving relationship with your kids comes from!
